Augustusburg in Brühl

The culture city Brühl has become a famous destination for tourists with its world heritage site Augustusburg Castle (the sumptuous residence of the prince-archbishops of Cologne) and the Falkenlust hunting lodge (a small rural folly). Both sites are among the earliest examples of Rococo architecture in 18th-century Germany. Moreover you can visit the museum of great Dadaist and Surrealist Max Ernst in his hometown Brühl.

Only a stone’s throw away, on the opposite of the house, a little forest track leads you to the beautiful “Kottenforst-Ville”, a nature reserve with mountain bike and hiking trails as well as wonderful lakes. So what about a nice walk, a picnic or a bit of jogging? In summertime you can even go for a swim or enjoy one of the other activities the nearby lakes have to offer as for example a waterski center…
